Expedition
When Edward came back to Adelaide after he had attempted but failed an eairlier expedition. They were still in the midst of setting a new expedition up to find a way to bring live stock to Western Australia from South Australia. With all of Edwards experience in the bush he was made leader of the group. Edward said that if he could lead the expedition he would pay half the costs.

In 1840, Edward set out on his journey with six white men and three aborigines taking with them supplies to last them 3 months and 13 horses, 40 sheep . They travelled 1300 km from Followers Bay across the Nullarbor Plain. The thing Edward was most famous for was exploring the Nullarbor desert separating Western and South Australia. Edward and Wylie crossed the Nullarbor plain by foot which took them from Adelaide to Albany this made them the first men to cross South Australia from East to West. On there journey they were hoping to find good land to take livestock from South Australia to Western Australia.
